If you’re like me, you’re a huge Taco Bell fan. Something about the fast-food chain hits the spot, whether you’re grabbing a quick snack or settling in for a speedy meal. Their classic menu items—like the Baja Blast, Mexican Pizza, and the iconic Crunchwrap Supreme—always keep us coming back.
Personally, the Crunch wrap has always been my favorite. Every bite’s a perfect mix of flavor, crunch, and texture.
So, when I was among the first to try Taco Bell’s new chef-inspired Crunchwrap creations, I was beyond excited. These new versions have been generating buzz; after tasting them, it’s easy to see why.
But don’t get too excited just yet—they’re not available everywhere. Fans are begging for a nationwide release, and after trying them myself, I can totally see why.
What Are The New Crunch wrap Supreme Options?
Taco Bell is taking its iconic Crunchwrap to the next level. They’ve teamed up with three talented Taco Bell Test Kitchen chefs: Reuben Asaram, Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, and Lawrence “LT” Smith.
Each chef has created a unique twist on the Crunch wrap, bringing exciting flavors from different culinary traditions. Here’s the lowdown:
- Indian Buffet Crunchwrap – A taste of Indian-inspired flavors with slow-roasted chicken and creamy tomato curry.
- Crispy Thai Noodle Crunchwrap – Thai heritage meets the classic Crunchwrap with crunchy noodles and bold sauces.
- Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap – Spicy, fried chicken with a southwestern twist.
These creations aren’t just about stuffing new ingredients into a tortilla. Taco Bell is elevating its game by offering fans something new and exciting.
Can You Buy These Crunch wraps Yet?
Unfortunately, these new Crunchwrap flavors were only available during a limited-time test in New York City on October 21 and 22. Taco Bell was testing them out to see which flavor(s) fans love the most before deciding if any will make it to menus nationwide next year.
However, there’s a fun twist for Taco Bell Rewards Members: from October 15 to 22, you can create your own custom Crunch wrap Supreme by adding up to $3 worth of your favorite ingredients for free through the Taco Bell app. It’s a fun way to get creative with your Crunch wrap and taste what it’s like to be a TBX chef!
The New Crunch wrap Supremes Ranked
I was lucky to taste-test all three new Crunchwraps, and they did not disappoint. While each one had its unique strengths, here’s how I ranked them:
1. Indian Buffet Crunch wrap
Chef Reuben Asaram, known for his fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisine, created this version. It features marinated, slow-roasted chicken in a creamy tomato curry, Mexican-spiced rice, cucumber mint sauce, a crunchy tostada, lettuce, and pico de gallo.
For vegetarians, there’s an option to swap the chicken for crispy potato bites.
I was excited about this Crunchwrap since I love curry, but it was too saucy for my taste. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the cucumber mint sauce added a refreshing touch, but the overall experience felt messy.
That said, it’s packed with bold flavors, and if you love Indian cuisine, this one might be right up your alley.
2. Crispy Thai Noodle Crunch wrap
Chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, a two-time James Beard nominee from San Antonio, created this Crunchwrap inspired by her Thai heritage. You’ll find marinated grilled chicken, khao soi aioli, crunchy wheat noodles, sour cream, onions, cilantro, and an avocado basil ranch sauce.
It’s a bold fusion of Thai flavors with a South Texas twist.
This Crunchwrap completely caught me off guard—in the best way possible! The crispy noodles added the perfect crunch (essential for any Crunchwrap), and the combination of tangy sour cream, fresh herbs, and the crunchy noodle nest was a flavor explosion.
I didn’t expect to love this one as much as I did, but I finished everything.
3. Southwest Hot CHX Crunch wrap
Chef Lawrence “LT” Smith from Phoenix delivered the knockout of the bunch with his Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap. Known for his modern take on Mexican cuisine, Chef LT crafted a spicy, cheesy, and all-around delicious fried chicken crunch wrap.
It features fried chicken tossed in spicy salsa macha, Oaxaca, and Monterey Jack cheeses, pickled purple cabbage slaw, cilantro, apricot hot sauce, and sour cream.
This Crunchwrap hit all the right notes. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The sour cream’s coolness balanced the salsa’s heat, while the pickled cabbage gave it a nice tangy crunch. Plus, the cheesy pull was Instagram-worthy.
If Taco Bell rolls out this Crunch wrap nationwide, it’s sure to be a fan favorite.
Conclusion
After trying all three new Crunchwrap options, it’s clear that Taco Bell is pushing the envelope with these creative flavors. Whether craving something spicy or crunchy or packed with bold, global flavors, each Crunchwrap offers something unique.
The only question is which one (or one) Taco Bell will decide to release nationwide. Based on my taste test, any of these options would be a hit.
And if you’re lucky enough to be a Taco Bell Rewards Member, tap into your inner chef by customizing your Crunch wrap through the app until October 22.
While the wait for a potential nationwide launch continues, Taco Bell fans across the country are already hoping that these new Crunch wrap Supremes will soon be available at a drive-thru near them. Let’s just say I’ll be the first in line when they do!
